Four years ago my family was blessed with little boy named Keegan. Since then no matter how hard life gets, when looking into his face or playing with him it's like life doesn't seem so hard anymore.
Keegan is my nephew, my brother's son and my parent's grandson. Since then our Christmas's have changed; they've become the best ones of our lives because our little Christmas Angel is in them.
Keegan was born on December 14th; the best Christmas gift anyone could ever ask for
This is how I celebrate Christmas, every year with my Nephew. My friends change, my partner's change, but he remains in my life making me a very proud and happy Aunt. I love my little Keegan man with all my heart and I Christmas just wouldn't be the same without him.
Yes I cried writing that portion. I chose to enter the 'Vector your Christmas' contest as a test on trying out vector style artwork without any tutorials. I did a lot of research on vector artwork, and practiced before creating this piece.
Everything is created with Adobe Illustrator, using it's vector tools and shape tools.
In the background is a vector painting of the CN Tower on an island; this is referenced both to one of the cities I love to be at, and a joke between my family and I. Dad keeps telling me he wants the CN Tower on a Tropical Island for Christmas, so I thought it was fitting to have that in the background.
The wall colours is actually the colours and similar pattern my dad painted our hallway and living room walls where the Christmas Tree is. Obviously I couldn't use the same pattern brush in real life (
damn photoshop, why you no allow me to use real life brushes?
) so I used some vector shapes to get it close.
Keegan and I; Keegan reaching for a blue bulb. He always picks the blue car, or the blue piece when we play together and seems to love pulling the blue bulb's off the Christmas Tree.
Special thanks to
for running the contest, it was a lot of fun and challenging!
